SHERIDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT REFRIGERATOR MECHANIC JOB DESCRIPTION TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. 250 day (12 mo.) contract; 8 hours per day. 2. Salary based on district salary schedule for the position. 3. 12 days Sick Leave per year of employment. 4. 10 days paid vacation per year of employment. 5. 3 days personal leave.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Valid Arkansas driver’s license. 3. Must clear an Arkansas State Police, an FBI, and a Central Registry background checks. 4. Must hold a valid Refrigerator Mechanic License. 5. Must obtain and keep current all appropriate licenses, permits, and professional credentials to meet the requirements of the position. 6. Minimum 3 years refrigeration experience. 7. Knowledge of any federal, state, or local laws, rules, or guidelines pertaining to refrigeration work. 8. Must be able to work and satisfactorily complete work assignments under limited or no supervision using standardized practices and/or methods. 9. Must be able to prioritize work assignments with the safety and well-being of others as the top priority.
10. Must be able to work cooperatively with others as well as have a calm, patient demeanor with everyone. 11. Must be able to communicate effectively. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Install, inspect, maintain, charge and/or repair all refrigeration systems and equipment for the purpose of ensuring proper operation. Develop and carry out an ongoing program of preventive maintenance. 2. Test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic test equipment. 3. Perform soldering and brazing as needed. 4. Charge and leak-check refrigeration systems. 5. Perform pre-start up checks on equipment and make adjustments as necessary. 6. When needed, lay out and install reference points for determining equipment location. 7. Maintain an appropriate parts line inventory. Procure equipment, supplies, and materials for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items. Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase for the purpose of maintaining the inventory of district owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies. 8. Be able to install wiring to connect components to an electric power source. 9. Respond to emergency situations as may be required, 24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year. 10. Utilize the maintenance work order system for the purpose of prioritizing, scheduling, and documenting work activities. Keep a record of repairs and replacements. 11. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Administrative Services or the Superintendent of Schools. Frequently walk; climb or balance; and stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl. 4. Be able to climb a ladder and possibly work from a ladder or a lift. 5. Occasionally stand or sit, regularly lift and/or move and carry up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. 6. Occasionally work in confined areas or heights. 8. Be able to work in hot, cold, dusty environments. 9. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Intelligence: Requires the ability to read and follow through with oral and written instructions. Must be able to read complex blueprints, sketches, and schematics. Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time in various conditions and in various situations. Must possess necessary computer skills to order parts over the internet, access online work orders, and research any information needed. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondences. Requires the ability to prepare reports, forms, and/or system documentation. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to give oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively with others in a positive and proper manner.
